Thank God for Agencies. Out of a client’s mouth no less.
I was talking to a friend and former client the other day. I had conducted a couple of agency searches for her in the past.
Her company was listed as an essential service and all their units were open. They have a National footprint. A lot of consumer touchpoints.
But business is different these days. She shared how she was working more because of the pandemic and all the changes it has had on consumer behavior, store operations, resource management, etc. etc. etc.
I sensed the weight on her shoulders.
She shared that one of the first things they had to do was change all the off line and online creative and she needed to do it very quickly. The material was produced and shot a long time ago. Probably a couple of months ago.
It was not appropriate she shared because it showed people in close proximity to each other. Not quite a good social distance example. Also the tonality was not right for these times. There were a lot of elements that had to be changed. A lot of work to do. And time was tight in a world where many of us don’t know what day it is.
And then she said Thank God for Agencies. She shared how all her agency partners responded and created entire new campaigns quickly when they were all working from home. She was very impressed. There was a little bit of marvel on how they were able to do it.
I have talked to a lot of agencies and clients during my career. Those interactions and relationships expanded because of my agency review practice.
Most clients describe their agencies as OK. Not really an enthusiastic descriptor. I have heard they are fine or are great as well but not as much as OK.
So her Thank God really stuck with me.
So today are you finding ways to make sure your clients are saying Thank God for your shop?
Agencies are only as good as the client. Sounds like a great client and now I need to go get a hamburger at my favorite hamburger place. (guessing who the client is).
